K&K Newsletter Archieve
Welcome to the 2015 edition of the K&K Racing Newsletter.
This season we welcome back team sponsors Al’s Sunoco on Route 31 in Pennington, NJ, Trenton Hot Rod Shop on Ingham Ave. in Trenton, and K&K Industries of Ewing.
First, we’ll touch briefly on the December 2014 Battle of Trenton in the Sun Bank Arena. As the defending champion of the event Tom returned in the #99E with hopes of another good run. Heat race action saw Tom move up from mid pack to win and set the fastest lap time of the event. In the feature Tom slotted into 2nd but tried too hard, clipping the front stretch wall and knocking the #99E out of competition.
January 23-25 the team returned to Len Sammons Motorsports 2015, this year displaying the #99 and John’s 2014 Championship winning #20. All three team drivers appeared in the display area throughout the weekend.
February 6th Tom borrowed the motor from the #99E and competed in a go kart ice race at the Trenton Sun Bank Arena, taking 3rd in the event.
February 7th the team traveled to Eatontown, NJ without the cars for the 2014 Wall Stadium Sunday Series Awards Banquet. John was crowned the Modified Micro Stock Champion, while Tom and Robin took 2nd and 3rd place honors in the same class.
March 1-7 the team had the #20 and the #99 on display in the Flemington Speedway Historical Society room at the Dirt Track Heroes car show in Phillipsburg, NJ. John and Tom appeared in the display for opening day of the show. John soloed there on Friday, and all 3 team drivers rounded out the show for the final day.
Gary Buck had been slated to drive the team’s #93 car for 2015, but changes in his personal life forced Gary to step down as the driver.
April 12th the team finally took to the track for practice day at Wall Stadium. Robin’s #99E performed flawlessly for her all day, as did John’s #20 until an oil fitting worked loose. Oil on the motor was the only result, and the car was easily prepared for opening day. Tom’s #99, however, was a little down on power all day. During the week the team identified the problem as an easily remedied timing issue.
April 19th the team traveled to Wall Stadium for the season opener. In warm-ups the #99 broke a rocker in the spare motor, but the primary motor was installed in time for the second round of warm-ups. Tom’s luck continued as the motor ran fine but the right rear tire let him down during the warm up session. Heat race action saw Robin take the lead in the #99E at the start, with Tom in the #99 trying to take the spot on the outside for several laps before dropping to 3rd. John in the #20 then made a few runs at Robin before Tom pulled inside of him to battle for 2nd. On the last lap Tom cleared John and pulled alongside Robin but she held on for the win. In the feature Robin again took the early lead with John moving into 2nd and Tom close behind. Around the halfway point in the race John got inside of Robin and took the spot, pulling away from the pack. Two laps later Tom cleared Robin and proceeded to run John down. John protected the inside lane while Tom moved to his outside and the two team cars battled side by side for the rest of the race with John edging out Tom by a bumper for the win. Robin held on to finish a close 3rd.
April 26th was the 2nd race of the Wall Sunday Series. John and Tom competed in the Modified division, but Robin moved over to the World Formula class with the #99E. Heat race action saw John retire early with a broken chain while Tom took 2nd in the #99. Robin took 3rd in her class in the heat race. In the Modified feature, John pulled a last lap pass to win by a nose over Tom. Robin also had an exciting race as she drove to a solid 2nd place finish in the World Formula feature.
May 3rd the team returned to Wall Stadium with John and Tom running Modified and Robin in World Formula. Heat race action saw Tom take 2nd with John in 3rd. In the feature the positions switched around several times but ended up the same at the finish. Robin took 4th in her heat and moved up to lead her feature for a while before dropping to 4th for the finish.
May 10th and May 31st were both cancelled due to weather, so it was June 14th before the K&K Race Team returned to Wall Stadium for another race. For this race the #99E had a brand new Modified motor for Robin to drive. Robin came out strong with the heat race win. In the feature Robin held on for the win with Tom and John right behind her.
June 21st Tom was on a hot run as he took both the heat race and the feature, while John claimed 2nd and Robin rounded out the top 3.
July 19th weather again stopped the races at Wall, so the team returned August 2nd. Heat race action saw John take the heat race win, but in the feature Robin claimed the top spot, followed by Tom and John.
August 9th the team was back in action, but shut out of the heat race win for the first time all season. In the feature Tom stormed to the front while John and Robin finished 3rd and 4th.
August 16th Chris Gall took the wheel of John’s #20 for the heat race win.He also went on to grab both the heat and feature wins in the World Formula class driving the Mike Fox #48. Back in the Modified ranks Chris and Tom had an exciting race-long battle with Tom taking the win over Chris and Robin close behind in 3rd.
August 30thJohn was back in the seat of the #20 and making the most of it. Starting off with a heat race win John came out victorious in a race-long battle over Tom to win the feature as well. Robin experienced valve train problems with the #99E in the heart race and parked the car for the feature.

2014 Season in review
Welcome to the 2014 wrap-up edition of the K&K Racing Newsletter.
This year we’ve been a little remiss about our weekly race reviews, but here are some of the highlights:
Tom Ervin kicked off the 2014 racing season in the #99E World Formula powered K&K Express that
Robin Ervin usually drives, winning the inaugural Battle of Trenton.
Most of the season the K&K Race Team restricted their racing to Wall Stadium Speedway.
John Kazmierski announced his farewell season in the #20 K&K Express, and went on to win 5 feature events at
Wall earning the 2014 Modified Microstock Championship. Tom was right there all season as well, winning 4 feature events
and taking 2nd in Wall Stadium Sunday Series points with the #99 K&K Express. Robin also had a successful season,
taking two feature wins and garnering 3rd place in Wall Stadium Sunday Series points as the K&K Race Team
dominated the Modified Microstock class.
In post season racing Tom took over the #99E for the War at the Shore for World Formula powered cars,
turning the fastest times ever recorded in the car at Wall Stadium and claiming 3rd place. Tom also made a rare
appearance at Borgers Speedway with the #99E for his final win of the season.
During the course of the season the K&K Race Team also brought the cars to several car shows.
At the conclusion of the 2014 season John announced his driving retirement (?) and that Gary Buck of Ewing,
NJ would be joining the K&K Race Team as a driver for 2015. Gary is a former go-kart racer who had raced against Tom
at tracks like New Egypt and Great Meadows in the ‘80s and ‘90s. Gary has been an important member of the K&K crew
in 2014, and even turned some impressive laps in the #99E late in the season. At the time of this writing it was not yet
determined which car Gary would drive in 2015: the #20 or the #93.
John will be honored as Wall Stadium Modified Microstock Track Champion at the Checkered Flag Fan Club Awards Banquet on December 6th
and the Wall Stadium Sunday Series Awards Banquet at a future date. Current winter car shows under consideration
by the K&K Race Team include the Motorsports show in Oaks PA, the Dirt Track Heroes show in Phillipsburg NJ and
one or more of the Fillamon Brothers Racing Movie Parties at locations to be determined.
K&K Racing thanks our sponsors for the 2014 season; Al’s Sunoco on Route 31 in Pennington, NJ , Trenton Hot Rod
Shop on Ingham Ave. in Trenton, and of course K&K Industries of Ewing.
Welcome to the Spring 2014 edition of the K&K Racing Newsletter.
K&K Racing is proud to announce the return of three sponsors for the 2014 season; Al’s Sunoco on Route 31 in Pennington, NJ , Trenton Hot Rod Shop on Ingham Ave. in Trenton, and of course K&K Industries of Ewing.
January 10-12 the K&K team displayed the #99 at Len Sammons annual Motorsports show in Oaks, PA.
February 1st at the Checkered Flag Fan Club banquet Tom was honored as the 2013 Wall Stadium Sunday Series Modified Micro Stock Champion.
February 9th was the first “Battle of Trenton” indoor Microstock Race at the Sun National Bank Arena in Trenton. Since Modifieds were not invited to this event AndrewSchuster picked up a ride in the Hiddemen #9W World Formula car and Tom Ervin drove the #99E that Robin Ervin usually drives.
In the first heat race close contact ripped out the valve stem in the right front tire of the #99E, but Tom hammered down to a second place finish. In the second heat race a similar incident ripped the valve stem out of the Left Front tire on the #9W. Not to be out done Andrew brought that car home in second place as well.
In the feature Tom started in third with Andrew in fourth. Early action saw Tom and Andrew both running well, moving up to second and third running positions. Mid race Andrew got a little too close to the outside wall and cut down a tire, dropping him from competition. With a lap and a half to go Tom went to the outside to take the lead and the win.
March 1st The K&K team attended the Wall Stadium Sunday Series 2013 Awards Banquet, sweeping the Modified division with Tom in 1st, JohnKazmierski in 2nd, Andrew in 3rd, Robin in 4th, and Pat in 5th.
March 2nd through March 8th the K&K team displayed the #99 K&K Express Modified Micro Stock at the IRCO Dirt Track Legends car show in Phillipsburg, NJ.
Shortly after this show Andrew purchased the #9W that he had driven in the Battle of Trenton (a K&K built car) and announced that he would be leaving the K&K team to run as an independent with his #9W in the World Formula class.
April 6th Tom and Robin hauled the #99 and #99E to Wall Stadium for the first practice of the season. Tom was there to break in and test a brand new motor in the #99. The motor in the #99E had been loaned to another competitor for the Battle of Trenton, so Robin tested that motor to see if it was still in good condition (it was). Both cars performed flawlessly.
April 13th John and Tom hauled the #20 to Wall Stadium for the final practice day. Much like Tom the previous week John was there to break in and test a new motor in the #20. The motor performed well, and John also experimented with different compound tires on the right rear of the car.
Kazmierski Wins Fourth Feature At Wall
WALL TOWNSHIP, NJ - Heat race winner John Kazmierski took command of the Modified Outlaw Microstock race at the drop of the green flag, followed by Andrew Shuster and Robin Ervin. At the completion of the first lap Tom Ervin moved into third and began working on Andrew Shuster. The next lap T. Ervin dove inside Shuster in a bid for second. Shuster crossed over and drove back inside T. Ervin, but Ervin fought back on the top to take control of second place.
While this had been going on, Kazmierski had been building a comfortable lead. T. Ervin went to work on closing the gap to within 2 car lengths. Kazmierski was not to be denied as he sped to the checkered flag to claim his fourth feature event of the season, tying T. Ervin for feature wins this season and closing the points chase for the championship. T. Ervin came home in second place while Shuster rounded out the top three.
John Kazmierski races with sponsorship from K&K Industries, Trenton Hot Rod Shop, Al's Sunoco, and C&M Automotive Warehouse.

Sept 22 2013ERVIN WINS AT WALLWALL TOWNSHIP,NJ - Heat race winner Robin Ervin took the early lead in the feature race at Wall Stadium Sunday afternoon with John Kazmierski hot on her heels from the start. Kazmierski moved inside and outside looking for a place to pass her for the lead. Running in third place, Tom Ervin was opening a slight gap on Andrew Shuster.
On lap four Kazmierski took the narrow lead on R. Ervin. She fought back and the two ran side by side. A few hard fought laps later she was able to get the lead back. Paulsen Visits Victory Lane
By Robin Ervin
WALL TOWNSHIP,NJ- Heat race winner John Paulsen took the early lead at the drop of the green flag for the Modified Outlaw Microstock feature race at Wall Stadium on Sunday. He was followed closely by John Kazmierski in second place and Tom Ervin in the third position. Kazmierski ducked inside of Paulsen and then looked outside of him to a place to challenge for the lead but time and again Paulsen held off his advances.
Near the halfway mark Ervin got to the outside of Paulsen to make it a three-way battle for the lead. This battle waged for couple of laps as Paulsen clung to a short lead with Kazmierski and Ervin racing on both sides of him trying to take the lead.
Paulsen took the solid lead on lap 10 as Kazmierski and Ervin fiercely battled for the second position. The two traded second and third position several times in the space of two laps as Paulsen started to pull away to a nice lead. With just a handful of laps to go Kazmierski took second place and then began closing the gap on Paulsen.
On the white flag lap Kazmierski caught Paulsen and dove inside of him to make a last ditch bid for the lead. As they came to the finish line, Paulsen took the win by half a car length with Kazmierski on the inside of him. Amazingly, was Ervin rapidly closing up Paulsen's outside to challenge the win as well. Ervin came in third place, just a car length behind Paulsen.
The Modified Outlaw Micro Stocks are scheduled to return to Wall Stadium on Sunday, September 22nd. There is no club fee to race with M.O.M., and all Modified Micro Stock drivers are welcome to compete.

Modified Outlaw Micro Stocks at Wall Stadium
Three for Kazmierski at Wall
WALL TOWNSHIP, NJ- For the second time this month John Kazmierski claimed the Modified Outlaw Micro Stocks feature win at Wall Stadium to claim his third checkered flag of the season.
Heat race winner Andrew Shuster led the field to the green. By the completion of the first lap Kazmierski had moved up to take second from front row starter Robin Ervin. The next lap saw Tom Ervin move into third several car lengths behind Shuster and Kazmierski. By the halfway point of the race Shuster, Kazmierski, and T. Ervin were crossing the line three wide with Shuster regaining control of the race entering the corners as Kazmierski and T. Ervin battled each other for second while attempting to overhaul Shuster for the lead. With two laps to go Kazmierski and T. Ervin managed to get past Shuster, and with one lap to go T. Ervin led Kazmierski to the line by a nose. Kazmierski retook the lead through turn one and led down the backstretch on the final lap, but T. Ervin went to the outside through turn four and powered alongside Kazmierski to finish in an apparent dead heat. Even the flagger couldn’t call the race winner as both Kazmierski and T. Ervin went to victory lane together, but eventually official word came from the tower that Kazmierski had won his third race of the season matching T. Ervin’s 2013 wins. Shuster crossed the line a car length back from the photo finish to round out the top three.
Kazmierski competes with sponsorship from K&K Industries, Al’s Sunoco, Trenton Hot Rod Shop, and C&M Automotive Warehouse.
