April 24th the K&K Race Team went to Wall Stadium for the Tech and Practice Day with all 4 team drivers and cars.
May 7th Tom put a World Formula motor in the #99E and ran the World Formula Microstock race in front of the Saturday Night Wall Stadium crowd. Despite a wicked push in the feature, Tom moved up to 3rd, challenging for 2nd at the checkered flag.
May 15th the K&K Team was out in force for the season opener of the Wall Stadium Sunday Series with all 4 cars. Heat race action saw all 4 team cars lead the race at one point or another, with John claiming the checkered flag in the #20 followed by Robin in the #99E, Dave in the #90, and Tom in the #99. The feature did not go as well, as Robin dropped out on the pace lap with clutch issues. John made it to about the halfway mark before retiring the #20 with engine woes. Dave and Tom held up the honor of the team with a side by side battle for the lead that was finally settled on the last lap as Tom won the season opener in the #99.
June 5th was a gloomy day with rain predicted. John, Dave and Robin opted not to race but Tom represented the team with the #99 taking another win.
June 26th the weather was better and so were the team’s fortunes. Heat race action saw Robin leading the K&K Team assault, taking a second place heat race finish. In the feature Dave parked the #90 early, but Robin held on to 2nd for a while before dropping to 5th. John ran last early in the race with carb issues but rebounded to finish 2nd, while Tom moved up from the back row to claim the win.
July 10th The team was back in action following a couple of rainouts. Tom took home 2nd in the #99 with John, Robin, and Dave close behind.
July 17th John ran 2nd for much of the race before Tom squeezed by in the #99. Tom went on to win while John hung on for 3rd followed by Mike Fox Jr. substituting in the #99E and Dave grabbing 5th.
July 30th John, Tom, and Dave hauled all 4 team microstocks and Tom’s ’64 Ranchero to a cancer benefit car show in PA, where they spent the day meeting with car enthusiasts for a good cause.
August 21st John was feeling the effects of the extreme heat, so Joey Payne III filled in driving the #20 for the day. In the feature Tom took 2nd in the #99, followed by Joey in the #20 and Mike Fox Jr. in the #99E.
August 28th John was back with a vengeance to win his heat race in the #20. Feature action saw Mike Fox Jr. work his way to the front for his first ever Modified Micro Stock win in the #99E. Tom and John completed a top 3 sweep by the K&K Team.
September 11th the K&K Team had all 4 cars ready for competition at Wall Stadium. Heat race action saw Mike Fox Jr work his way from 5th to 2nd in the #99E with Tom, John, and Dave finishing 4th through 6th. September 18th Tom started the day by charging from last to first in the heat race. Feature action saw Tom hold on for the win while Mike, John, & Dave finished 4th through 6th.
September 25th the K&K Team finished out the month at Wall Stadium Speedway with all four cars in competition. Tom led the charge with a last to first dash in the heat race driving the #99 with Mike holding off the rest of the field for 2nd in the #99E. John dropped out early with a broken throttle linkage in the #20 and Dave pulled off near the end with brake failure in the #90. All four cars were ready to go by feature time, and Mike jumped to the early lead in the #99E but Tom retook the lead to claim the win in the #99. Mike brought the #99E home in 2nd while John soldiered on in the patched up #20 for a 6th place finish. Dave pulled off early in the #90 with a miss in the engine.
After the 2 make-up rain dates at Wall were rained out, the track added an extra make-up event for October 16th. John already had plans for that day so the K&K team hauler stayed home, but Tom and Robin hauled the #99E to the track for Mike to drive. In heat race action Mike dropped to third with a loose car but recovered for a distant second place finish. A fresh tire helped tighten the car up for a stronger run in the feature with Mike finishing a closer second. Tom filled in driving the Nick Cottone #5 car in the World Formula race, running away with both the heat race and the feature.
The Battle of Trenton Microstock race scheduled for 11th was cancelled, ending the 2016 season.
December 3rd Tom was recognized at the Checkered Flag Fan Club banquet for winning his 30th Modified Microstock Championship.

Trenton Tornado Blows Through Wall Stadium
BY ROBIN ERVIN
WALL TOWNSHIP,NJ- Tom Ervin’s started in last place in the heat race and gradually worked his way toward the front as AL Puntesecca and Mike Fox jr battled for the lead. With four laps to go Ervin made a three wide pass for the lead and went on to take the win with Fox and Puntesecca still battling to the finish for position.
In the feature race Ervin, Puntesecca and Fox resumed their battle for Modified Microstock supremacy. At the drop of the green Fox took the early lead but half a lap later Ervin took the lead. Behind Ervin, a fierce battle for position waged throughout the field. Fox, Puntesecca, Chris Gall and Tyler Wagner raced nose to tail, each ducking a nose inside periodically in a bid to improve their positions. Fox was able to hold them all off and keep second place. Puntessca had his hands full as Gall looked high and low for a place to make a pass for position. Behind them John Kazmierski and Dave Stout raced door to door for sixth position.
With two to go Fox was able to break free of his pursuers and attempted to try to close the gap on Ervin but the gap was too large and Ervin took the win handily in the Modified Microstock feature with Fox Jr in second place, Puntesecca in third. Gall finished in fourth with Wagner in fifth, Kazmierski in sixth and Stout in seventh.

Ervin Wins Hard fought Victory over Puntesecca
BY ROBIN ERVIN
Tom Ervin looked to be the man to beat when he zoomed from last place to take the win in the heat race. Al Puntesecca has been looking better and better with every race he starts and this day was no different. At the drop of the green flag in the feature race Puntesecca and Ervin both took off like they were shot out of a cannon. The two battled fiercely lap after lap with Ervin holding off Puntesecca by a narrow lead. As the laps clicked off, the two leaders opened a gap on the rest of the field.
It was a four-way battle for third through sixth positions between Mike Fox jr, John Kazmierski, Chris Gall and Dave Stout. Gall worked his way from his second to last place starting position into third place in four laps and worked on closing the gap on the leaders. Behind third place running Fox, Kazmierski and Stout battled door to door for position for several laps before Kazmierski was able to make the pass for fifth position.
With two laps to go Ervin began to pull away from Puntesecca and went on to claim his second win in a row.

Mike Fox Jr. Wins First Modified Victory
Wall Township, NJ- Mike Fox Jr scored his career first Modified Microstock feature win Sunday Afternoon at Wall Stadium. Fox Jr. is a two-time World Formula Microstock champion at Wall Stadium and this was only the third time he has been behind the wheel of the 99E.
John Kazmierski held off Fox Jr. to take the heat win earlier, therefore he started on the pole for the feature. Kazmierski took off like a bullet at the start with Fox Jr. Right behind while Tom Ervin went three-wide with Chris Gall and Al Puntesecca for third position.
Near the halfway point the caution waved for the spun car of Al Puntesecca. On the restart Fox Jr. got the better restart and took the lead from Kazmierski. As the laps clicked down Fox Jr started to open a gap on Kazmierski. Ervin made the pass for second place with two to go but was unable to catch Fox Jr. who darted to the checkered flag first. Ervin took second, Kazmierski third, Puntesecca fourth and Gall fifth.

Chris Gall Takes the Win
Wall Township, NJ -Chris Gall took home the win on Sunday at Wall Stadium Speedway in a borrowed car. Motor woes sidelined the Al Puntesecca #31 Modified Microstock, so Puntesecca gave him the 51 that he usually drives. Starting last in his heat race due to the driver change, Gall charged to the front and took the win.
In the feature event, Gall started on the pole flanked by Joey Payne lll in the #20. On Lap four Tom Ervin took second place from Payne and closed on Gall. At the halfway point Ervin moved inside of Gall to challenge for the lead but Gall hung tough on the outside and the two ran side by side for the remainder of the race to the delight of the crowd. Coming off turn four on the final lap, Gall found the little extra he needed and beat Ervin to the line by a narrow margin. In third place was Payne with Mike Fox jr in fourth place.
